Godzilla (2014)
Finally an American film worthy of the name Godzilla has been released this year. This film surpasses anything I have seen at the theater in a long time. This almost totally makes up for that abomination of a movie called Godzilla in 1998, which really looked like an over-sized iguana. This is the real deal, unlike that 1998 film where the monster is killed by mere missiles. This is the "true" Godzilla that is so well known, the one that breathes atomic breath and is invulnerable. I guarantee you will be on the edge of your seat the first time he roars.
This movie may have a lot of story with the human characters, but it is worth sitting through to see the epic monster battles. Yes, in this movie Godzilla fights other creatures! I felt like the new creatures called MUTO were an interesting new addition. Hopefully in the future they do add some of Godzilla's original foes from Japan. Godzilla is actually the hero in this film, which surprised me. He may be an ally of sorts, but remember that he still probably accidentally killed a few innocents, it was bound to happen since he is so huge. This Godzilla towers above the original, even the monster from the movie Cloverfield, which I never cared to see. The last half hour is very action packed, which is the climax you will be long awaiting. I especially enjoyed when Godzilla swung his tail at his foes, or the first time he blasts out his signature atomic breath.
The story basically revolves around a conspiracy about creatures emerging from underground that feed off radioactive material. Godzilla is supposedly the one who must restore balance, by killing these winged creatures that burst from some egg sacs. These creatures sort of reminded me of bats. Just like the original, Godzilla rises from the sea in all his glory. You may have to wait a bit to see him, but it is worth the wait.
One thing that caught me off guard in this film is that the enemy creatures are focused on before Godzilla. Thankfully this movie isn't based out of New York, like so many films nowadays. You get to see action in San Francisco, Japan, even Las Vegas! Hopefully the sequels are able to match this movie, or possibly they will be even better. People need to accept this movie for what it is, a truly great monster flick. This is no B movie, it is the first true American Godzilla in my opinion, miles better than any Michael Bay explosion fest. The acting was okay in this move, but that is definitely not the appeal of this kind of film. So check it out, you won't be dissapointed. This movie deserves more than average reviews, but that's just critics being snobs.

Mortal Kombat (1995)
Often times movies based off video games are the biggest bombs. This movie really is no exception, it did have scathing reviews when it was released. At least it fared better than the movie based off the Super Mario Brothers. This movie may not be very good, but I still enjoyed it. The effects are cheesy, also the costume for the Goro character is just awkward. Still this movie is enjoyable, with some interesting fighting scenes. A lot of the characters from the video game appear, such as Scorpion and Sub-Zero. The acting can be sub par but what do you expect? The acting still is alright, but the movie shines with the battles. I especially enjoyed how Scorpion has his own lair that appears to be Hell, which is where him and Johnny Cage duke it out. Scorpion's head does unfortunately blow into a million pieces, but at least you are able to see him breathe fire. They really did the best they could incorporating elements from the game into the film, but it may of been too tough a task. Someone yelling out fatality after a fight is just strange and doesn't fit well in the movie.
The plot is nothing special in Mortal Kombat, but does follow the early games. Shang Tsung is the main antagonist in the film, also Goro which takes out many fighters with ease. The story is just about mortals fighting beings from other worlds in a tournament called "Mortal Kombat". The humans are supposedly fighting to protect Earth from destruction. Johnny Cage, Liu Kang, and Sonya are the main protagonists, which also means they make it through the tournament alive. These characters are really just tolerable, the villains are way more interesting. The final fight with Shang Tsung is a highlight to the film, also when Goro is defeated on a cliff. I still think it would be more interesting if the bad guys won sometimes, oh well.
The film may have campy effects and all, but it is still worth a watch. It isn't the worst of the video game based movies by far, there are way worse. I definitely would skip the sequel though, which has barely any redeeming qualities. The second film has some terrible CGI effects, which make it intolerable to even watch. The second film is probably along the same lines as Spawn, which also had terrible looking CGI. So overall this movie is really good for nostalgia, little else.

Night of the Living Dead (1968)
I first saw this movie in a box set with 20 others, only for $5.99. The film is in the public domain now and can be easily accessed. I heard of the Night of the Living Dead before, but never really paid it any mind. When you think about it, this film is really influential to pretty much every zombie horror movie or game that followed. I don't recall ever hearing the word "zombie" though in the whole film, but they are instead referred to as ghouls. The film starts off with a bang when a brother and sister are visiting a cemetery. Right anyway you can see the first struggle with a zombie, and the girl named Barbara is able to escape but her brother isn't as fortunate, banging his head on a gravestone. Like a dim wit Barbara crashes her car, then takes refuge in a seemingly abandoned house. Another man named Ben shows up and boards up windows and all openings in the home. Then a few more survivors start to trickle up from the cellar. The survivors quarrel on what they should do in the emergency, also listening to updates on television and radio. You learn the epidemic started from radioactive material that caused unburied corpses to live again. Throughout all of this Barbara seems to be brain dead, acting helpless and she really adds nothing to the group.
It is reported on the radio that the zombies eat the flesh of their victims. You witness this first hand when the zombies outside the house begin to chew on body parts and entrails. The zombies are slow moving, but they actually do a lot more than Barbara. The zombies actually pick up objects, attempting to break down barriers. Most of the time they are scared away by fires, but this only lasts so long. The characters are believable for the most part, but Barbara still doesn't cease to annoy me. There also is a little girl in the house, which you later found out was bitten by one of the zombies. The film has a very dark tone and also the scenery matches the mood. Unfortunately, some scenes in the beginning are hard to see in the shadows.
For the most part this film is slow moving, but it does sometimes build up suspense. I still wish there was a little more action, but that is really not the purpose of the film. There are still some intense scenes in the movie, especially for the time this was released. One of the most violent scenes is when you see the little girl feasting on her dead father's corpse in the cellar, after he was killed in a quarrel with Ben. Also the little girl repeatedly stabs her mother with a gardening tool. This film definitely is able to shock, but there are way worse things nowadays. One of the survivors' plans to escape goes down the drain when the only truck in the area goes up in flames, which leaves the group stranded. There is a crew of zombie hunters in the area, now that it is learned a shot to the head permanently kills the ghouls or zombies. The barriers of the house are finally broken down, then the ghouls begin to flood in. Ben is the last remaining survivor of the group in the end. I won't spoil the ending, but things don't turn out well for Ben when the zombie hunters show up.
This movie is really a classic, especially if you are a fan of zombies. Still, I felt like the pace was too slow at times, but I suppose this was to be suspenseful. I may feel differently if I watch it again. I do recommend Night of the Living Dead, and I think it was ahead of it's time.

The Punisher (2004)
The Punisher is a comic book character, but I really cannot say he is a superhero. He has no special abilities, neither does his enemies, but only a logo. He really is more like an anti-hero. The Punisher is in no way evil, but he will kill anyone that stands in his way. There have been some toned down versions of this character, but sure not with this movie. This movie is essentially a revenge tale, and the main character played by Thomas Jane is just relentless in his killing. What causes him to go on a rampage is the fact that his whole family is killed off during a vacation. The villain of the film is John Travolta that has the Punishers family killed to avenge his son, who is killed in a police shootout earlier in the film. I really didn't think Travolta was a believable villain for a comic book film, but that's just my opinion. Anyway, the film basically just follows the Punisher's rampage as he tries to take down Travolta's crime ring. I really didn't think it was believable either that the main character survived so many gunshot wounds to escape, but he does. He makes it back to the city and lives in an apartment next to a girl and her two odd neighbors. He really just focuses on his plans, ignoring his pesty neighbors. I really can't blame the Punisher for having a sour attitude, since his whole family was killed.
Frank aka the Punisher sets up an elaborate plan against Travolta which leads to him turning against his wife and friends. Travolta actually goes as far as killing his wife. Meanwhile the Punisher kills people and doesn't hold back one bit. He finally gets his revenge in the end, but after the movie is finished you feel unsatisfied by the ending. You will like this movie if you are a fan of revenge tales. This is not like a superhero film it has a darker tone, and much violence. Still I think they could of done a lot more with this movie and made it better, similar to Spawn. Maybe they will just make another remake someday like everything else, but I'd rather see the Spawn remake which is long overdue.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
I am definitely a fan of the Star Wars film saga, but mostly just the early films. I did enjoy Attack of The Clones and Revenge of the Sith, but this film is an unforgivable abomination. The Phantom Menace is the turd of the series in my opinion, which feels like a cash grab than staying true to the series. The plot basically involves the young Anakin Skywalker living in slavery with his mother, until Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon-Jinn land on the planet because of a problem with their ship. Throughout the film these two are trying to hunt down the villain Darth Maul, which I think is a great new character, which sort of resembles the devil. Maul has horns protruding from his head and a double sided red lightsaber. Anakin wins a pod race to pay for a part needed for the Jedi's ship, also he is bought out of slavery. His owner named Watto is a stereotypical character, supposedly representing Jews. He is fat, has a big nose, and also is quite miserly. Sometimes stereotypes are put into the Star Wars films, but in a subtle way, this character is not subtle at all. Anyway, Darth Maul is defeated and Qui-Gon-Jinn is killed. Obi-Wan plans to take Anakin under his wing and become a future Jedi. I am not going too deep into the plot, because it is a complete bore.
I realized once again how bad this film is by seeing it again in 3D. Once again, I left the film feeling unsatisfied. I believe that Episode II and III are really the only good newer Star Wars films. I also have to mention Jar Jar Binks. Jar Jar is probably one of the most loathed characters from Star Wars, which I completely agree. I can't stand this character and his shrill voice. I guess George Lucas had to include one retarded character in the film to make it fair, and I don't mean this to be insulting. I did enjoy the Gungan creatures battle with the droid army in the film, which is one of the few highlights. Also it may be ridiculous but I also enjoyed when Anakin destroys that ship in space, even though he had no idea how to fly the fighter. Really that is all I can say that was good about the movie. Watch any other Star Wars besides this one and you will be happy. This movie is like the filler of the Star Wars saga. In the future I will try and review the Star Wars films that are actually worth watching.

Alien (1979)
When a movie is simply called "Alien" that is what you expect to see, but this alien looks like no other. They are just savage creatures that will kill anything in sight. They aren't unintelligent though. These aliens hide in the shadows, only coming out at the right time. The alien in this film is completely black, has a large head and spear-like tail, bleeds acid, and also has a smaller mouth that protrudes from its jaws. They really took the time to put as much detail they could into the costume. You also get to see the unique life cycle of the alien creature, but I will get to that.
The movie mostly takes place on a huge ship in space, which supposedly is used for mining minerals on other planets. Sigourney Weaver is the star of the film with a crew of interesting characters. Not everyone is who they appear to be on the ship. One person in the crew is actually an android with the intent on bringing the alien back to earth, the crew is expendable, which you later find out. A team lands on a mysterious planet to mine, but find something completely out of the ordinary. There is a large ship on this planet, with no signs of life except a space jockey and some leathery eggs. I am still not entirely sure what that space jockey is, possibly it was one of the alien's victims. You are left wondering, where did this ship come from?, why did it crash land?, who was the one who piloted it?, possibly the pilot was the jockey, its left up to your imagination. So anyway, a creature attaches to a crew members' face, which is called a facehugger. The crew of the ship is puzzled what to do, as the man named Kane stays in a coma-like state. The creature finally falls off though, and it seems like everything is okay. Before this, the crew discovers the creature has acidic blood. The biggest surprise in the film is when an alien creature bursts out Kane's chest, supposedly an embryo was planted inside him. The creature grows into a full sized alien, then the movie really gets going.
They at first think the aliens dead, but it grows into the large creature I described. The alien picks off the crew one by one, hiding in the vents and shadows. My favorite scene is when a man with a flamethrower goes up into the vents. He has a motion tracker, desperately looking for the alien. It is quite suspenseful, then the creature strikes. You don't always see the damage that's done, but often its implied, which makes Alien a successful horror film too. Weaver is the hero that is able to stop the alien, being the only one that wasn't killed off. It would be intense if you were stuck in a tight space with this huge creature. The little mouth is really what makes the alien deadly, also its tail is used to impale. After the alien is defeated Weaver goes into a freezing chamber, but its not over. This only leads you directly into the second film. This is a must see horror/action movie, especially since it first introduced the alien creature that is so well known.

Aliens (1986)
This is obviously the sequel to the first Alien, but the name isn't that clever. They just added an S to the end of the title, implying that there is more than one alien this time. This is true, there are hundreds of aliens this time. This movie takes place years after the first film, and Sigourney Weaver awakes from her frozen state. She is brought to another ship, trying to explain the events that occurred in the first film. Of course no one believes that the alien creature killed everyone on board, the company Weyland-Yutani only cares that they lost money when the ship in the first movie self-destructed. Weaver soon realizes that there are now colonies of people living on the planet which housed the crashed landed alien ship. A team of soldiers is sent out when there are reports of attacks in the colony. Ripley (SIgourney Weavers character) comes with the team since she has "experience" with the creatures.
Of course all hell breaks loose in the colony. A lot of the colony is deserted, or could it be everyone has been killed? There is one survivor which is a little girl, who stowed herself away in the vents. This movie still has horror elements, but focuses more on action. There isn't as much suspense since you can clearly see tons of aliens running all over the place. Despite tons of firepower, the soldiers are no match for the sheer amount of aliens. Also you find out later that there is a queen alien that is laying hundreds of eggs. The queen is like ten times the size of a regular alien. It is kind of to be expected the Weaver is the only one who makes it out alive, with the little girl Newt also. There also is another android in this film, but this one doesn't turn on humans but instead is very useful.
The special effects are great in this film, especially for the 80s. The famous scene is when RIpley battles the queen inside of a large robotic suit. The movie also introduced the famous pulse rifle weapon, which appears often in the series. The characters are interesting in the film, but in my opinion not as good as the first Alien. This movie also ends with Ripley going into a hibernation sleep. Unfortunately, the next two Alien films weren't that spectacular. You may prefer this film over the first if you are more into action.

The Dancing Pig (1907)
This is apparently a silent film that was saved from the verge of destruction. Many silent films have been lost with time, or purposely destroyed. This French film somehow survived, and you can find it online anywhere. Its just a short black and white film, but it is quite disturbing. Supposedly this is all for humor, but really its just creepy and shocking. There really is no plot to the film. A giant pig wearing clothes starts flirting with a woman and she rips the jacket off of the 6 foot tall creature. The costume itself is what makes this disturbing, the pig looks like something out of a nightmare, especially with its fang-like teeth. Anyway, after stripping the pig the girl proceeds to put the pig in a dress and force it to dance. The film ends with a cringe worthy scene; the pig's huge tongue is flailing out of its mouth and the eyes are blinking uncontrollably, it is up to your imagination what this scene really alludes to. You really have to see this scene to believe it. It is so strange that this was created over 100 years ago, and yet can be so disturbing. Still I suppose it is a good thing the movie survived, its a piece of film history.

Jaws (1975)
Essentially Jaws is a monster movie, but its no monster at all but instead a great white shark. Great acting and memorable scenes make Jaws more than just an average monster movie. There is suspense to when you are going to see the shark next. Most of the time you see the carnage and damage a great white shark can inflict, but this is just preparing you to what is to come. Steven Spielberg made a classic movie with the limited technology of the day, then years later created the great Jurrasic Park, with groundbreaking special effects. This movie appealed to me from an early age and is still interesting to see today.
The film revolves around Brody the chief of police on Amity Island. A shark has began to attack local residents, and kills a teenager right at the beginning of the film. At first everyone believes the shark to be much smaller, but in reality its a massive great white. Beach goers are oblivious to the dangers of the ocean and a few are killed. This film really was successful at making the public afraid of sharks, and possibly swimming in the ocean. A bounty is put on the shark and chief Brody and a team consisting of Quincy, a shark hunter and Matt Hooper go on a quest to hunt the shark down. I wont spoil key points in the plot, but the shark does destroy the Orca, which is the boat the team uses on the hunt. The scenes leading up to the hunt are interesting, showing Brody doing some detective type work. Brody is really determined to take this animal down, it shows he really cares about the residents of Amity. Still, it may be unrealistic that they are trying to take down one specific shark, but its fun to watch.
Most kids are interested in either sharks or dinosaurs at an early age, I thought both were intriguing. I first saw Jurrasic Park then Jaws came on television one day. From then on I was hooked on the film, even the mediocre sequels that followed. Later you realize how great the acting and everything is, but the shark still looks cheesy nowadays. It really doesn't matter that the shark is animatronic, because it was believable as a kid. The film is not that particularly gory, but back then that scene when Robert Shaw's character is in the sharks mouth was intense, especially when the blood began to pour out of his mouth and dragged him under. This scene was interesting how it showed the view of him sliding into the sharks jaws. It also was a surprise the first time when you see the shark pop up out of the water, as chief Brody is chumming the water. There also is the classic line from Brody; "You're going to need a bigger boat".
The sequels to this film really don't do it justice. Probably the worst sequel is the fourth installment, Jaws 4: The Revenge. This film is completely ridiculous, and the plot should not even be mentioned. Also there was the third installment with its cheesy, outdated 3D effects. Jaws 2 really was the only okay sequel. Still the original is the one that holds up with time, as both a great horror and action movie. There are a few pop out scenes that may surprise you if you never saw the film. If you haven't already, watch it and skip the terrible sequels.

Forrest Gump (1994)
This movie covers a wide spectrum of events that took place in the U.S from around the 1950s to 1980s. This is unique though, because the movie is seen through the perspective of a slow man, he has a low IQ but this doesn't stop him. Forrest Gump may be slow, but he is able to stay true and become very successful in life. The story starts when Forrest is a kid and he lives down south, he is constantly tormented for being slow and having braces on his legs. He befriends a girl named Jenny and protects her throughout the film. He is eventually able to break free from the braces and escape his tormenters. Forrest does realize early on he can run very well thus becoming a football player in college. He is able to graduate and make it through school.
As the story goes on, Forrest lives through major events in American history. He witnesseses the assassination of JFK, the civil rights movement, and the counterculture. Forrest eventually is drafted into Vietnam where he meets his friend Bubba. Also he is heroic and saves many other soldiers in combat. He saves Lieutenant Dan, which isn't fond of him at first but befriends him also in the film. Unfortunately, Lieutenant Dan loses both his legs, and throughout the film must come to terms with this. Also during the 60s and 70s, Jenny follows the path of drug addiction and the hippie lifestyle as Forrest follows the straight path. It is interesting how Forrest still is interested in Jenny, unaware of all the wrong that she commits. Forrest also is successful financially founding a shrimping company and investing in Apple computers later on.
One interesting aspect of the film is its special effects, which you think wouldn't come in to play with a movie like this. Forrest actually is digitally put into historical events and next to famous people. This may be the most unrealistic aspect of the movie, but it is unique. This really is a good story and works out in the end for most. Forrest is actually introduced to his son later on, but I won't spoil anything else, see it if you haven't already. The story is great and Tom Hanks acting is spot on, along with the rest of the cast. It is interesting to see how far such as simple man can go in life. It also shows the seedier side of American life throughout time. The soundtrack also is great, with some period specific rock and pop. I really can't pick a favorite scene, there are too many. One scene I did especially enjoy was when Lieutenant Dan keeps a promise to Forrest, becoming the first mate on his shrimp boat.

Dumb and Dumber (1994)
I am not the biggest Jim Carrey fan, but this one is a winner in my book. Jim Carrey isn't as obnoxious in this film, and Jeff Daniels is also tolerable. Both together make an interesting duo for a comedy film. The movie isn't laugh out loud but its a lot more clever than any David Spade or Adam Sandler movie. The plot revolves around two friends, Harry and Llyod who work at dead end jobs and live in a crummy apartment. Llyod takes a briefcase at an airport thinking the girl he drove there forgot it, but she actually intentionally left the briefcase. Llyod accidentally foils a ransom and two criminals pursue him. Meanwhile, Harry and Llyod embark on a road trip to Aspen to return the briefcase, which contains a large chunk of money. It is interesting to see how the road trip plays out, and actually how dumb these two friends are. The two actually end up spending the money when they get to Aspen and trouble ensues. I am not a fan of a lot of comedies but this one is quite funny, without having to be to resort to fart jokes. I still remember watching this movie with my brother the first time. My favorite scene probably is when Llyod hits sea-bass with a salt shaker.

I think this is Jim Carrey’s funniest movie. I laughed throughout this movie. The type of humor in this movie is the kind where people act stupid and get hurt. I know that type isn’t for everyone. Not just that it’s funny, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels gave great performances. One of my favorite things in this movie is the dog car. I can’t believe they traded that sucker, it was cool. One thing I wasn’t a fan of was how they treated that parakeet. They taped it’s head back on, that’s just cruel. Even with their stupid antics things seem to work out for these two. They go on one funny, entertaining adventure, they almost had it made, but one dumb decision at the end left them stranded. Overall this was an enjoyable comedy.

Predator (1987)
This is definitely a horror/action movie done right, with some great special effects for the time. This is definitely a highlight to Arnold Schwarzenegger's career, and in my opinion his best film. This movie does everything right and makes it a classic along side the first two Alien movies. Basically the plot revolves around a team of soldiers who go on a mission into the jungle, but are surprisingly confronted by an alien that hunts humans for sport. The predator camouflages itself and uses advanced weaponry to hunt prey, way more advanced than human weapons. I always found it interesting how the predator fights only worthy opponents, apposed to the alien creatures which mindlessly kill anything. The predator only hunts down humans that can provide a challenge, which would be Arnold and his team of tough guys. The predator also violently skins people like animals, and takes trophies.
The movie has really good special effects, as I said before. You get to see an interesting perspective, which would be the predators thermal vision. It is interesting how the predator sits in the trees watching the soldiers every move. It slowly picks off every one in the team, one by one. Of course Arnold the Govenator survives the ambush. The only odd part of the movie is that the team holds a foreign girl from a village hostage, I guess it is so she doesn't alert guerillas in the area. Overall though, this is an interesting setting for an alien movie, the jungle looks quite realistic. The gore isn't extreme, but there is some violence, still nothing compared to Predator's sequel.
One of the most epic scenes is when Arnold fist fights the predator at the end, like a true action hero. He actually has the nerve to fist fight a huge muscular alien! I won't spoil anything else, but there is an epic conclusion. I like how Arnold goes Rambo and sets up traps, using the predator's tricks against it. I definitely recommend this movie, especially over the sequel.
9.5/10
Predator 2 (1990)
Here is a less than impressive sequel to a great movie. This Predator film takes place in an urban setting, instead of the jungle. A new predator creature comes to Earth hunting crooks and drug lords. Danny Glover plays the hero of the movie that takes on the alien creature, nowhere near as interesting as Arnold, but still a good actor. The film can't be entirely serious though, since they did cast Gary Busey. Most of the characters are likeable and the movie follows a group of Los Angeles cops, which battle gangs and drug lords, until the predator intervenes and becomes a new threat. Really though, the predator sort of seems like a vigilante, taking down criminals and what not, but he does kill some cops which triggers Danny Glover to pursue it. Some parts of the film it actually feels like the cop is hunting the predator, when it should be the other way around.
The special effects are good in the movie, which sort of makes up for the weak plot. The gore is definitely amped up a notch, with many gruesome deaths. This movie did have an overall darker tone than the first film, especially when I saw it as a kid. The predator essentially does the same thing as the first movie, but its not as interesting in the city. One scene I did enjoy was when Glover stumbles into a predator ship. The creatures don't kill him but award him with a pistol from the 1700s, hinting the aliens have come to Earth for hundreds of years. Overall the first movie was way more interesting to me, with a better lead actor.

Aliens versus Predator Requiem (2007)
Here is a real turd of a movie, with barely any redeeming qualities. This movie really has nothing good going for it like the original alien and predator films. The first AvP movie is miles better than this, with way more likeable characters. This movie continues where the last left off. An alien bursts out of the chest of a predator and a hybrid creature is created, half alien, half predator. The hybrid creature kills all on board a predator ship, then the ship just so happens to land on Earth. The hybrid along with a bunch of other aliens escape the ship and wreck havoc on Earth. Then another predator lands on Earth to destroy evidence and kill the hybrid. This movie mostly takes place in the city and in sewers, differing from previous alien and predator films, which were more futuristic.
I much prefer the futuristic style alien film. Instead the movie follows a bunch of present day teenagers, which are not in the least likeable. It may sound cruel, but you don't really flinch when these teenagers die, they are that annoying. There is the stereotypical jock kid, the stuck up girl, and every other cliche character. I don't even recall the names of any of these characters, they are just plain and boring, I wish the movie would just focus on the alien and predator killing each other, not the personal lives of these teens. Most of the time when you do see the alien and predator battling it out, the screen is way too dark. Like Transformers 2, the fighting scenes are too close up that you can't even tell whats going on, it just sucks.
The plot of this movie really doesn't even matter, and its just straight up gore most of the time. The blood and gore is noticeably higher than the first movie, but this doesn't save the film. When I first saw this in theaters I thought it was cool, but as time went on it looks more and more dumb. There are a few interesting scenes here and there, but nothing you haven't seen before. Hopefully future installments in the series won't be this mediocre, if there will even be more.

Mega Shark versus Giant Octopus 2009
I went out on a limb and bought this movie one night at Meijer. The cover made me laugh with two huge creatures going at each other, also it was a great deal of $5.00. When I finally popped it in a few months later my jaw dropped. It wasn't because this movie was good but extremely cheesy. Everything about this film screams B movie. By no means should this movie be taken seriously, I believe it was intended to look horrible. Once I looked this movie up on Wikipedia, and someone jokingly put the budget was one dollar, which I am assuming was a joke or typo. All I can say is this monster movie definitely belongs in the bargain bin, but It will make you laugh.
Basically the plot involves two giant creatures who are frozen in battle in Antarctica. One creature is the giant octopus and the other mega shark, hence the name. Somehow the creatures are unfrozen, then fight each other and wreck havoc on the coast. It makes no sense the creatures end up in San Fransisco, yet they do. One of the most ridiculous scenes is when mega shark bites the Golden Gate bridge. Also the shark is somehow able to jump thousands of feet in the air and grab an airplane; I was on the edge of my seat when the shark flew through the clouds. The creatures constantly appear bigger and bigger than they were previously, which confused me. Really the shark steals the show in this movie, the giant octopus doesn't do as much.
Everything about this movie shows it was low budget. The backgrounds look cheap, the acting is terrible, and the computer generated creatures mimic the Sci-Fi channels special effects. Overall this movie is worth it just to laugh. Not to spoil the film, but sadly both mega shark and giant octopus die. So pick this movie up in a bargain bin near you; I don't blame you if you pass it up.

SPEED
1994
04-24-14
Speed, this is one action packed movie that you don’t want to miss. Keanu Reeves plays officer Jack Travern. Dennis Hopper plays the crazed bomber and Sandra Bullock plays Annie the humorous bus driver.
The main plot to this story is that the bus Annie is driving is rigged with explosives. The bus is not allowed to slow down under 50mph or it will blow. Jack Travern is along for the ride along with other hostage civilians.
This movie is one of the best action films out there. I love how the director takes into account the possibilities of what could actually happen in this movie. This movie actually shows intellect being used from the Bomber and from Travern, such as the bus running out of gas, the bus trying to get out of traffic areas to keep up the speed, how the bomber knows what’s going on in the bus, all these details where taken into account, Unlike several action movies that make no sense, and people are just doing things because it’s cool. The movie gives a great twist on how Travern ended up out smarting the bomber and getting everyone to safety off the bus.
Unlike almost every action movie I think this is one of the most realistic ones. Why does almost every movie have to have the whole city being destroyed. This movie is on such a small scale, but yet it’s 10 times more thrilling and entertaining than other action flicks.
This movie will keep on you on the edge of your seat all the way through. Its thrilling, entertaining, has an exceptional cast. Also who doesn’t want to see the Bus jump across a missing section in the road. This movie is no disappointment and it’s a must see.

"Reality" Shows
Something that has plagued the United States in recent times is reality shows. It confuses me why these type of shows ever got big in the first place. Most reality shows are just scripted trash that they decided to broadcast on television, such as "Keeping Up with the Kardashians". The only reality shows that interest me involve cars or pawn shows. It seems like the most popular reality shows quite often involve rich celebrities or hillbillies, which baffles me. Sometimes it makes you wonder why you even pay for cable, you are essentially paying for this garbage. Reality shows are one of the reasons I don't get too engrossed in television, I would much rather see a movie or sitcom.
The worst train wreck of a show is about the rich Kardashian family. The big "star" of the show is Kim Kardashian, which is married to the talentless hack Kanye West. Why people obsess about this woman is beyond me, she is the most fake looking and acting person I ever saw. People really think she is a symbol of beauty?, maybe compared to a troll, and that is even a stretch. My mom and sister get into this show for some odd reason, maybe watching rich, spoiled brats interests people in some way. I really doubt these people give very much to charity, all they care about is petty, worthless things. If I was rich I would be way more responsible with money, not just buy whatever impulsively. I really doubt this show is unscripted, its hard to believe the Kardashians can function without a script. The truth is Kim Kardashian probably only got famous due to a sex tape, and her lawyer father. I even did a whole paper in school about how bad of an influence these reality show stars are. Who really wants to be as greedy and soulless as Kim Kardashian?, but maybe that's what too much money does to ya.
Another embarrassment to humanity are shows like "Duck Dynasty". These are the most dull people I have ever seen, yet this show is a huge success. These are just a bunch of bigoted rednecks that got rich because of duck calls. Many scenes feel scripted and every episode is as pointless as the last. The Duck Dynasty clan just spends the day doing dumb activities, with a few lame jokes thrown in for good measure. Every show ends on a prayer which is fine, but it seems like they are trying to prove how wholesome of a show this is. There are many other redneck type shows, mostly about the bayou but those don't bother me all that much. Luckily I am starting to see Duck Dynasty merchandise in bargain bins, so that's a plus.
For me I think I will stick to sitcoms. If I want to watch a show about rich rednecks, I probably would take "The Beverly Hillbillies" over Duck Dynasty. I personally think reality shows show the worst that the U.S has to offer. Honey Boo Boo is another ridiculous show about rednecks, but this one seems like child abuse due to the overweight little girl on the show. Why are they trying to glorify these type of sick people on television? What is the world coming to? Maybe some reality shows are real, which makes the world look pretty sad.

The Doors 1991
This film may be called "The Doors", but it really just focuses on the front man Jim Morrison of the 1960s rock group. There isn't a whole lot about the other members, probably the least about John Densmore. The film interested me since I was a fan of the Door's music, but it really could of been better. The film basically displays the drunkenness of lead singer Jim Morrison, and also his drug fueled antics. The rest of the members just watch at the side lines as Morrison does what he pleases, they don't intervene at all really. It confuses me how anyone could hang around this guy, unless this portrayal isn't that accurate.
The best part of the movie is watching how the band forms and gains popularity. It is obvious how it turns out though, with Jim Morrison's death from overdose. The Doors did last a few short years, but they did create quite a bit of memorable music. So the soundtrack is definitely a plus with a lot of the bands hits. Overall this movie is kind of depressing, and really has no purpose. I guess the purpose of the film is to show you indulging in drugs is wrong, which most probably already know. Jim Morrison is shown as a psychopath and makes everyone miserable, which may be true. Most of the film is just concerts and based off of real life incidents, but it starts to drag after a while. You may want to see it if you are a fan of the Doors, but you may just think of Morrison as a big jerk after watching it.

Horror flicks in general
4-21-2014
Horror flicks old and new to my are lame and boring. I know there are a few exceptions with some few great classics, but most of them are just cheesy. The well produced ones like Paranormal Activity just doesn’t cut it for entertainment for me.
The old crappy horror flicks like, Leprechaun, or that one with the killer gingerbread man and Chucky it just outright stupid. Like c’mon that is so lame having a doll run around killing people. The people act like idiots. I understand it is suppose to be funny like that, but it just doesn’t work for me.
The new an improved horror movies always end up boring, and even though they seem to make the demons, ghosts, killers more realistic, the victims of these movies still make unbelievably ignorant decisions with their lives.
These movies just don’t work for me. They don’t make sense. The people in the movies act ignorant. The motives for the killing make no sense. Also why is it there is never reliable law enforcement in these movies. If you offer me to watch a horror movie, you can bet I am turning it down.

Horror films used to be large blockbuster productions, but unfortunately new films aren't held in such high regard. I believe the golden age for horror films was the 1930s, where you didn't need special effects or extreme gore to make a movie enjoyable. The atmosphere or the monsters are what made films like "Frankenstein" and "Dracula" classic, and they still hold up over time. Nowadays it seems like horror movies motives are just focusing on hack and slash. Newer horror films mostly involve a group of teenagers getting slaughtered, which isn't entertainment to me. The movie "Halloween" and its 500 sequels popularized the teenage slasher film. There really is no point to these type of films, there is no suspense but really just senseless killing. These movies just lack what the classics had such as "Psycho", which involves a murderer but also has a deep plot. You don't need to show blood and guts, implying what happened creates more suspense.
Another phenomenon currently is kids in horror films. Whoever thought that a little girl would be scary in a horror movie? Little kids are more of an annoyance than something to fear. It confuses me why little kids are often the source of evil in these films. Also "Paranormal Activity" is just nonsense. The trailers for these movies even give of the impression these films will be dumb. You see a quick shot of a demon face or an apparition and they expect us to go see the film. Movies are also aggravating that never show the villain or creature, which is what we all want to see!
Unlike Crash, I do enjoy some B movies. I don't like the films that try too hard to look cheesy, but are unintentionally funny. Unintentional bad special effects or low budgets make films great B flicks. The Sci-Fi channel kind of makes a mockery of this, with constant poor quality films. I do enjoy some films that are meant to be scary, but end up being like a comedy.
So really my point is, new films lack what makes classics great. Often new films don't require much thought, but mostly focus on gore or campy effects. A castle or crypt in an old horror film is miles more interesting than crap nowadays. So I don't entirely agree with Crash, not all horror films are turds. They used to be really well made and thought out. Once in a while some good movie may come along nowadays, but I haven't seen many.

Mac and Me 1988
To sum up this film, it is a blatant ripoff of E.T. The plot revolves around a handicapped boy and his family moving to a new town, there the handicapped boy becomes friends with an alien. The alien, apparently named Mac has recently escaped from some government research site, which his family also escaped. For some odd reason, a lunar lander sucked up all the aliens like a vacuum cleaner and then returned to Earth. By chance Mac ends up at the handicapped boys home as his alien family looks for him. This all sounds quite ridiculous, which it is. This movie did not intend to look like a b movie, but that is how it turns out. On another note, I found it odd that the handicapped boy's family moved into a house on a cliff! One scene his wheelchair rolls off the cliff into the water below, but Mac luckily saves him. Even though this happens, nobody else seems to notice Mac. It is not until later on that everyone else witnesses the alien.
Other than the plot being ridiculous, so are the special effects. I could not stop laughing through this movie, it was just unintentionally funny, or possibly it was intentional. I guarantee you will laugh when you first see Mac and his deformed alien family. The aliens look just plain creepy, and their mouths are permanently in an O shape. The special effects are even cheesy for an 80s film. Mac looks like blob of play-doh at many points in the film. The worst looking special effects in the movie are when Mac splats on the car window, and also when the lunar lander thing sucks them up like a vacuum. The plot is useless, but at least the movie keeps you laughing at how bad the special effects are.
Not to spoil a great film, but Mac pretty much causes a ruckus in the handicapped boys house, and he eventually is reunited with his family. One of the flat out worst scenes is when the kids put Mac in a teddy bear costume and take him to McDonalds. Apparently some government agents, or someone is trying to hunt down the aliens, so they must disguise Mac. So anyway, for no particular reason Mac and the kids at McDonalds break out in a dance, which is probably the most pointless scene of the whole film. Now I can really see why this was rated one of the worst movies of all time. To top it all off, at the end Mac and his disturbing looking family become U.S citizens! Just when you thought the film couldn't get any worse. What is even more mind boggling is that Mac's dad now wears a business suit, and the mom and sister wear dresses!
It really confuses me why this was ever released in theaters. This film is an embarrassment to extra terrestrials everywhere. There really is no reason to go farther into the plot, because what I mentioned sums up the whole film. I definitely would only recommend this film for the laughs, since that is all it is good for. Mac and Me definitely lives up to its name as one of the worst films of all time.

Labor Day
4-20-14
The premise of this movie is an escaped convict named Frank finds Adele and her adolescent boy (henry) going through puberty and takes refuge with them during labor day weekend. Before Frank came along her son pretty much takes care of her.
I saw this movie on valentines day week since I had no one to celebrate with. I said heck with it, I’m going to watch a love story, and man do I regret it. This movie was BORING!. Ok so it started off ok, it was interesting then after about the first 25 minutes the movie slows downs and pretty much never speeds back up. Also a lot of this story just isn’t believable. The actors where trying their best with what they had but the script and story just didn’t cut it.
So frank is an escaped convict but yet he goes outside, cleans the gutters, changes the car oil, changes a car tire, all in the front yard. This is a relatively small town where everyone knows the news. I am sure someone would have seen him outside. Also Adele doesn’t have a husband so it would be odd to see a man outside her house.
Henry has to answer the door to some people, talk to the cops while riding his bike, several instances where he needed to keep his cool, as to not let others know Frank was at his house, but he was acting so suspicious it was so obvious. Anyone with half a brain can figure out that his answers didn’t seem right, and he was all nervous.
As for Adele literally one day and she’s having sex with an escaped convict in her bed. Yea that’s realistic. I wouldn’t even be able to sleep let alone let him in my bed. Anyway this movie was a waste of my time. I’m glad I saw it for free.

Independence Day (1996)
Sometimes alien movies just get old, especially when you barely ever see the aliens themselves. Overall though I thought this was one of the better alien flicks. Maybe the spaceships they came in were a tad too big, but it is still epic when aliens come down and wreck havoc. The world should of saw this coming earlier, since the mother ship actually covered the surface of the moon. Unfortunately for the people of the earth, the aliens end up literally blowing everything to pieces.
The aliens come down to earth and blow up entire cities, but eventually the people of earth figure out how to counter attack. It seemed like humans too easily learned how to fly an alien ship though in this film. Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith are able to invade the mother ship with the aliens' own technology, which seems ridiculous, but is still enjoyable to watch. The characters aren't that enjoyable though in this film, such as Will Smith's stripper wife.
The action scenes are pretty intense. One of the best parts is when the building gets blown up, with all the people welcoming the aliens. Another scene I enjoyed was when Will Smith punches an alien in the face. Its pretty twisted, but it is exciting to watch whole cities being destroyed by aliens. The conclusion of the movie though felt weak to me. This movie may be over the top to some, but I thought it was a great action movie. Really why can't aliens ever be friendly?

Shrek (2001)
It seems so long ago that this film was released, and I don't recall seeing it in theaters it was so distant. I owned this movie a while on VHS and watched it quite often. It basically tells the story of Shrek, who is an angry ogre who lives alone in his swamp. Well maybe he isn't angry, he just wants privacy. His land is intruded upon quite often, and the king of the land sends fairy tale creatures into exile, which they end up in his swamp. Shrek becomes friends with a talking donkey and has to go on a quest to get his land back. Overall this plot sounds ridiculous, but it all works.
The characters in the film are pretty funny, especially the gingerbread man. Also some jokes are directed toward adults, despite being an animated movie. There might even be a few instances of swearing, but its nothing over the top. There are many gross moments in this film, but it doesn't bother me any. One of the oddest scenes being Shrek lighting a candle of his own ear wax. Also Shrek bathes in mud, and has eyeballs at his dinner table. Despite this, it is a really good animated movie. The sequel also is worth a watch, but the later movies are weak.

This movie is great for anyone, young or old and It's the perfect family movie. I remember watching this movie in theaters and I was blown away as a child. This was always the go to movie at the sleep overs I stayed at with friends when I was younger. The character Shrek and his companion donkey are well thought out and have great chemistry. This movie has several funny parts. Shrek is just all around enjoyable and I'd be happy to watch this on any day.

Three Stooges (2012)
Here is one of those movies that is just flat out bad. Even looking at the movie poster makes me cringe. I am not even entirely sure why I saw this film. I did enjoy the Three Stooges, to a certain extent, but not this movie. The humor is just plain dumb, and that lady with the annoying voice stars in this; I believe her name is Sofia Vergara. Listening to this lady's voice is like nails on a chalkboard. Also what real life Dumbo's did they get to even play the Three Stooges? Also this movie seemed violent, even compared to the original Three Stooges. If I remember correctly, the Three Stooges actually run someone over with a car.
The humor in this movie falls flat and is mind numbing, like daytime television. I think I lost a few of my brain cells by watching this film. I did end up walking out before it ended, I actually think it was like 45 minutes in. I actually prefer the movie "Chicken Little" over this, which isn't saying much. Once again, the only good part about this movie was eating the soft pretzels. It is beyond me why anyone enjoyed this film. I would think you couldn't get any worse than this, but something new tops it eventually. If I wanted my IQ to drop, I would of just turned on the Kardashian's TV show at home. What tops it all off is that the Jersey Shore dim wits actually make an appearance, but I didn't make it that far.

Wolverine Origins
This movie went both ways with a lot of people. I thought this movie was watchable. But being a comic book fan I could tell I had a lot of biased opinions on this. The main premise of this movie is pretty simple, which is how Wolverine becomes who he is. I think the plot of how Wolverine joined the WeaponX program was went about all wrong. In the movie he volunteers and gives himself up. Not exactly how it happens in the comic. I think that was the downfall for me. I just wasn’t buying about he got “tricked” into it, like the movie states. Also in the comics he doesn’t just escape within minutes he spends quite a bit of time with the Weapon X project. I would have liked to see them grow more on that aspect. But I understand it’s a movie and they need to keep it going forward.
Other than Wolverine this movie portrays a new look for Sabertooth witch I do enjoy. There are also cool mutants making their debut like Gambit, and Deadpool, and several others. The action sequences where cool some CGI was really cheesy though, especially during the Wolverine vs. Gambit fight.
The end fight kind of annoyed me. It was highly unbelievable that wolverine was going to win against Deadpool. He was clearly outmatched.
I would say this is a movie for someone who knows nothing about Wolverine’s history in the comics, it would be much more enjoyable then.

Jonah Hex
There isn’t much good to say about this movie. Johan Hex is a bounty hunter that talks to the dead. His family was murdered and he seems to be out for vengeance. So I’ll start with the bad and end with the tiny bit of good. First off this movie is relatively short. It’s like the length of a cheap horror film. It doesn’t give enough time to develop the plot or the characters. Everything feels rushed and uncompleted.
This movie sports a dark tone, but It’s almost as if they cut everything down just to make it pg-13. There are several fight sequences that you feel cheated out of due to the pg-13 rating. The movie as a whole feels very incomplete and you feel nothing for the characters. Megan Fox is annoying and she’s a horrible actress all her scenes where useless and really had no point to the movie. Josh Brolin who played Jonah Hex was good. He pretty much made the movie watchable. After watching this, I felt like this character could be badass but they went about it all the wrong way. I give this movie a 5/10. Not worth your time.

Spider-Man (2002)
This is one superhero film where I think they got it almost perfect. There is just the right amount of action, and also there is still a story. The rebooted version just doesn't cut it for me, I much prefer this one and Toby Maguire as Spider-Man. I remember seeing this movie so long ago, and yet it is still good. Why are new superhero films so cookie cutter nowadays? I like the plot in this movie and how Peter Parker first gets his powers. Also the movie is funny at some parts, such as the cage fight with the wrestler "Bone Saw".
The movie plays out well, and I don't think it was boring at all. They may have gone to far with the third film, but the first and second are great. I also like the villain the "Green Goblin", which Spider-Man fights throughout the film. I won't say any more since I don't want to spoil what happens. The only character in this movie that isn't very likeable is Mary Jane, which Peter wants to ask out. This film does have a lot of action and good special effects. One of my favorite parts is the fight between Spider-Man and the goblin inside a burning apartment. The final fight is pretty epic too. I give this movie a 9/10.

True Grit (2010)
It seems nowadays remakes of classic films is quite common. In this case I believe the remake is better than the original. The story basically revolves around a girl who hires two guys to take down her fathers killer. The film can be quite bland and bleak at times, but I still found it interesting. The plot is quite brief and there is not much to it either. There are a few instances of action, but this is also limited. Overall though this remake has a better lead actor which is Jeff Bridges. Sorry John Wayne fans, but he was just not a good actor. Sometimes classics need to be updated, and in this case it did work. This is no "The Good Bad and The Ugly" type western movie though, it plays out a bit slower and not as action packed. I did however like the tale of revenge in this film, but unfortunately has a bleak and unsatisfying ending. Overall I tend to prefer Clint Eastwood westerns, but this one is worth a watch. I give it a 8/10.

Toy Story (1995)
One of the most memorable movies of my childhood would be Toy Story. I still like this film after all of these years. The animation is great, and was definitely great for the time. The plot about toys having a secret life away from humans is interesting, and also kind of creepy. So the toys are there watching you at all times? This really doesn't matter though because it's still a great movie. Toy Story has some interesting characters such as Mr.Potato Head, Hamm, and Woody. Most of the characters are pretty funny too. The movie basically follows the toy Woody as he tries to deal with being replaced by another toy Buzz, a space ranger. It is interesting how the toys find their way back to their owner, a kid named Andy. I could watch this movie at any time, and is still worth it. You should see it if you haven't already. I have watched Toy Story repeatedly as a kid, and the sequel Toy Story 2 is almost as good. I give this film a 10/10.

Joe Dirt
Right off the bat I'm going to admit, I am not a fan of David Spade. This movie is purely stupid, I don't think I laughed once or even smiled during this movie. Why is it even played on television?, this is the question of the ages. Who does this movie even appeal to really? David Spade is just about as funny as Bob Saget doing stand up comedy. It would be the biggest shocker if David Spade actually starred in a movie worth watching. I still wonder how this guy even got an acting career. The plot of this movie is still a little fuzzy, if there even is one. I give this stinker a 2/10.

SpongeBob Squarepants was a show that first aired on Nickelodeon in 1999. I do remember this show from way back, from when I was growing up. There are many memorable episodes and phrases from the first few seasons of the show. The characters in this cartoon are unique and memorable, such as SpongeBob, Patrick Starr, and Squidward. One of my personal favorite characters would be Squidward, which is SpongeBob's squid neighbor that seems to hate him.
Despite being in the ocean the characters go swimming in a lagoon, start fires and drive boats which is odd. It is almost like the characters on the show act like real people. The jokes on the show were funny, and even appealed to adults at some moments. Unfortunately I think the shop declined in quality since 2004 when the movie was released. Nowadays the show is just bland and the jokes are pretty stupid. Early on though there were some great episodes such as, "Band Geeks", which was my personal favorite, "Shanghaied", and "Pizza Delivery".
The music in the show is also pretty cool, and the jokes were clever at times. I think SponeBob should mainly remembered for its earlier episodes though, the new episodes just don't cut it. Most likely the show won't last much longer, but I still remember when the show was good.
-Anthony
This was one of those shows that always kept me entertained with their well thought out unique episodes, until recently. I like Anthony remember watching this show through out my childhood. One of my favorite episodes is when Spongebob "forgets" the pickles when really Bubble Bass is just hiding them under his tongue. All the characters are fun and all have different personalities. I think the episodes went downhill after they made the mistake of making the Christmas special a caly-mation. I view that as the turning point to the quality of the episodes. This is a very fun show and I'd recommend it to everyone of all ages, except for maybe the newer ones, but there is plenty of great content from the old episodes.

Full House
Full House
Full house was a really cheesy sitcom in the late 80s and early 90s. I'm sure that you saw this show on at some point. The show is basically about a dad named Danny raising his three girls, with the help of his two friends. Supposedly Danny's wife died, so his friend and brother-in-law moved in to help with his kids. The show is very corny, and many subjects are sugar-coated but overall this show was pretty good. For some reason people will just turn this show on and watch, even if they saw the episode a million times.
Most of the characters can be annoying like the smallest girl Michelle, or the comedian Joey. Some characters are tolerable though like Jessie, and the other two girls in the house. The jokes are really lame and the laugh track gets old, but the show is funny at times. The famous part of Full House are the piano moments, which occur every episode practically. The piano comes in always when there is an emotional moment. Despite this show being cheesy and a wholesome show it is interesting to watch. So flip this show on Nick at Nite, most likely it will be on every night. If its not on that channel I'm sure it will be somewhere else. I give this show a solid 8/10.

Napoleon Dynamite Review
This is a great comedy movie in in my opinion. Everyone has their own sense of humor, to some the "Hangover" may appeal to them or others "Napoleon Dynamite". Napoleon Dynamite is more of a subtle sense of humor, and it doesn't need cussing constantly to still make it funny. It also had a pretty low budget and still is able to make me laugh. The movie and the characters are pretty weird, and pretty much everyone in the movie is geeky. The film basically just follows Napoleon and his friend Pedro as they live their lives, most of the time at school. The film shows the life in a small town, far from any big cities. There also are a lot of memorable quotes from the movie, mostly from the main character Napoleon. The oddest part of the movie is how it looks retro like the 1970s, yet it takes place modern day. Many small, rural towns aren't really up to date with everyone else so the film could be accurate. It may not be a laugh out loud movie but I enjoyed it. There really is no goal to the movie, but that doesn't ruin it. Technically speaking though, there is not much to offer with the plot. The best part of the movie is the characters. Overall I give this movie 8.5/10.
-Anthony
Unlike Anthony I did not find this movie humorous. I thought it this movie was dull throughout Napoleon essentially has no personality. This movie did not appeal to my taste in humor, although "Hangover" wasn't my type of humor either. I don't think I laughed once in this movie. But I do agree with Anthony about the characters being weird and it as memorable quotes like "vote for Pedro". There really wasn't a plot to the movie the characters emitted no emotion there was not connection to the audience. I give this movie a 5/10.

Inception
This may upset some people but I do not believe Inception was a good movie. Some people with throw a fit and say "you just don't get it!". But in reality the movie was just plain boring. The scenes drag on for far too long, when it already got the point across. The only thing I enjoyed at that movie was the soft pretzels. People act like this movie was so great and it was clever, but it really isn't in my opinion. I did like the concept of the dream inside a dream, but it ends there. I don't really like how the concept plays out, and the movie was far too long. Other people may think differently, but I felt like this movie was a stinker. I do admit there were a few interesting parts, which I can't remember anyways. I would give this film 7/10 to be fair. The best part about Inception probably was the special effects, in particular the slow motion scenes were interesting.

Jurassic Park Review
3/13/14
Jurassic Park was a landmark movie when it was released in 1993. The special effects where high tech for the time. The movie remains a classic to this day, even though it seems like it is rarely played on TV. The special effects were obviously more advanced than Steven Spielberg's earlier films such as "Jaws". Unfortunately a few interesting scenes from the novel are left out of the movie, such as the aviary and river raft ride in the park. But overall the movie is more action packed and interesting than the book. The book focuses much on science, and the movie is mostly action. Overall Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movies. The most intense scene most likely is when the T-Rex breaks free from its barricade. Nothing this epic has happened in a movie since, and also the T-Rex was quite loud in theaters. The acting is also good in this movie, but may be forgettable.
The plot basically has the message that you shouldn't tamper with nature. A large theme park is created, bringing dinos back to present time. If you watch the movie the first time, I'm sure you can guess what happens. The power goes out and the dinosaurs break free from their confines. Many say the movie has little plot, but I sort of disagree with this. Sure the movie focuses a lot on special effects, but there is an underlying message. These dinosaurs shouldn't be brought back, they became extinct for some reason. This movie may apply to real life, since they are actually thinking of creating a woolly mammoth from DNA now. After watching the movie again, I really wish there were more shots of the dinosaurs, but not as much as the second film. I suppose Spielberg was trying to build suspense, similar to Jaws.
The characters in the movie are memorable, even though the acting is just good. Dennis is a funny character, but also greedy which leads to his demise. One of the best characters in my opinion was Muldoon, but he doesn't get as much screen time as others. I kind of wish the movie followed the book a tad more, who lives and who dies alters between the novel and film. Overall this was a great film adaption, that still holds up.
9.5/10.
-Anthony
This movie is a classic Just as Anthony states and must see for everyone. It has a simple easy unique plot. This movie had one of the best special effects for it's time. Anthony pretty much covered all the good in the movie. My favorite scene was at the end with the raptors you could just feel the suspense, they just felt dangerous. I thought the ending was a little downside I would have liked to see it a little more developed. There isn't much bad to say about this movie. I saw it when I was younger as i was too young to see it in theaters then I had another chance and took advantage I went to the new released 3-D version in 2013 and I was not disappointed once again. I give the movie a solid 9/10.
